Why study the Australian Alps?
A number of factors make the Australian Alps a valuable learning resource:
- There exists a very small amount of alpine and subalpine terrain in Australia
- Alpine and subalpine ecosystems are unique and the Australian Alps offer first-hand examples of these systems and their sensitive and complex management requirements
- The Alps reflects a history of diverse uses and connections, and
- Access to the Alps is relatively easy as they are close to regional towns and a number have tourist accomodation within park boundaries.
About the Australian Alps Education Kit
This Kit has been produced by the Australian Alps Liaison Committee to help increase awareness of the Australian Alps. It is primarily intended as a resource for Secondary School Teachers and Students in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria.
However, general visitors to this website will find the Kit is full of excellent information that will help them better understand the Australian Alps.
The Kit is available via pages and downloadable documents on this site and is also available as a CD-ROM
