Chapter 1 – Introduction and Teacher’s notes

This Kit has been developed for teachers of Years 7 to 10 students who are offering learning opportunities in the areas of:
- Aboriginal Studies
- Geography
- History, and
- Science
The Kit also provides a useful starting point for Year 11 and 12 students who are undertaking research projects in the following study areas:
- Australian History
- Aboriginal Studies
- Biology
- Geography and Environmental Science (Vic) and Outdoor Education (ACT), and
- Tourism (NSW) and (ACT)
This chapter provides some suggestions for:
- linking ACT, NSW and Victorian curricula with the Australian Alps
- field trip locations and trip preparation and safety.
The other chapters in the Kit provide detailed, but easy to read information on specific topic areas and include many photos and diagrams.
