Scabby Range Nature Reserve

Created in December 1982, the 4,982 hectare Scabby Range Nature Reserve lies cradled in the south-west of Namadgi National Park about 25 kilometres from Adminaby and 55 kilometres from Canberra. Much of the reserve is above 1,600 metres with the highest peak being Mt Scabby (1,798 metres).

Access to the reserve is very limited, the only road access being a dry-weather 4WD fire trail.

Bushwalking and rock climbing are the most common recreational activities in the reserve.

No developments are planned for Scabby Range.

People in Scabby Range Nature Reserve

Aboriginal use of the area seems to be associated with extensive use of the Gudgenby area (Namadgi National Park), where rock shelters and art sites have been recorded.

Remains of old stock yards in Sams Creek Valley are indicative of the relatively recent European occupation.
